COMMUNITY PLANNING:
As part of the Trumbull county planning commission Brookfield Township is part of a Community Development Block Grant Program. There are currently 13 Target Investment Areas in Trumbull County, Ohio.
1. Priorities for Construction of New Sanitary Sewer Line Extensions
Maps have been prepared showing the service area for each Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) in the county. The maps include the areas currently served by sewers and where sewers are planned in the near future. Priorities have been set by the County Sanitary Engineer based on the most recent Consent Decree, unsewered areas of concern and interest shown by residents through the filing of petitions for sanitary sewer service.
Strengths:
The community planning actions are indications that the government is active in improving it's area. Another strength is the Trumbull county board of health. It has a lot of information and resources to guide and improve the health of the families and children of the community.
Weaknesses:
If community members want to work close to home there are not many sources of revenue directly in the area to do so, therefore they may have to gain employment elsewhere.

- 2. Congressional Appropriations Requests
Trumbull County submitted seven proposals requesting funding through upcoming Congressional Appropriations to Tim Ryan, other Congressmen, U.S. Senators and state legislators. The highest priority project was Phase II of the Little Squaw Creek Interceptor Sewer Project in Liberty and Vienna Townships. Other priorities include Phase II of the Scott Street Sewer and Kinsman Sewer and upgrades to the Mosquito Creek and Brookfield Waste Water Treatment Plants.
- Imminent Sewer Map
The Subcommittee worked on the map showing areas of imminent sewer construction to be used in conjunction with the Trumbull County Health Department’s new Temporary Home Sewage Abatement Policy. Areas are being mapped that will have sewer service within 0 to 2 years and areas expected to have sewers in more than 2 years up to 10 years from now will be mapped too. The map will need to be updated on a regular basis as projects are completed or move forward, and a listing of address ranges for property owners in the two area classifications is also proposed to be prepared and publicized.
