Bus Services
Route Times
High School/Middle School bus pickups begin at 6:50 am.
Elementary School routes start at 7:45 am.
Safety
All students are eligible to ride a bus to and from school.
Parents are told to instruct their child that when the bus is approaching their stop to stay in the SAFE ZONE (10 feet from the curb).
Routes are set up so that as few children as possible have to cross the street. For the students that must cross, hand signals are used. Once the bus has come to a complete stop, the driver will use a hand signal to tell them when to cross the street or to enter the bus.
When getting off the bus, children must wait in that SAFE ZONE (10 feet from the curb) until the bus has pulled away.
Buses do not stop at every student's house. Pick-up points are used when possible. Some children gather at a central location at a specific time for pick up.
Children must remain seated while on the bus. No screaming, yelling, eating or drinking while riding the bus
Bus drivers are trained to handle children and the bus under all types of conditions. They are equipped with two-way radios, and the drivers are in constant contact with the office, each other, and the police department (if needed).
Routes are scheduled to pick up and drop students at approximately the same time each day.
In cold weather parents are advised to dress their children in warm clothes and footwear

A Message to Parents Regarding Ebola:
Trumbull County Health Department top things parents need to know about Ebola.
1. Your child is not at risk while attending school in Trumbull County. A risk for Ebola only comes when you come into close contact with a person suffering from Ebola.
2. Being near someone who is sick with Ebola doesn't mean you'll get infected. The disease isn't contagious like the flu or common cold. You have to be in contact with a patient's body fluids or blood, and you have to have a break in your skin or have the fluids touch your eyes, mouth or nose.
3. Ebola does not live long on surfaces or outside someone's body. Soaps, detergents and hand sanitizers are effective at killing the virus. Keeping your area clean and washing your hands will help prevent infections.
4. You and your children are really only at risk if you have traveled to West Africa, where Ebola is currently spreading.
5. There are currently no known cases of Ebola in Trumbull County or Ohio.

Strengths
The Brookfield school system has a lot of support from its residents. They voted in a brand new school for the children, with all the grades combined into one building. Their public library has a variety of activities for kids to participate in throughout the week
Weaknesses
One of the big weakness Brookfield has to fave are is proficiency test scores. Almost all of their test score in the elementary and middle school are below the state average. Brookfields lunch program does not offer the most nutritious meals, foods like donuts and pop tarts are given for breakfast and lunch entrees like pizza, burritos, corn dogs, chicken nuggets, and cheeseburgers are high in fat and are most likely processed. Brookfield also does not offer an after school program.
